Ayr each-way tip: Global Humor shaping up to have the last laugh at tasty odds

At the top of the market Alpine Sierra looks well-treated to progress to another level, although his price looks vulnerable alongside close-up second-favourite Darbucks, who has been knocking on the door of a long overdue win with four back-to-back frame finishes since July.

Of the outsiders, Gordonstoun has only run twice this year, and while those two September outings did nothing to catch the eye, he does tend to save his best form for the autumn and it was this time last year that he won two races in quick succession after finishing last of 11 in his previous outing.

However, the final nod of Tipstrr’s each-way specialists goes to the sometimes unreliable but always promising Global Humor, who looks  a decent each-way shout at a double-digit price here in this company, if he is in the mood to show up.

As a three-time course-distance winner here, most recently half a dozen outings ago in June, this eight-year-old’s subsequent five performances have not reached those heights, although the signs were there again the next time he appeared 12 days ago.

Over the same seven-furlong trip, he finished fourth behind the highly rated JKR Cobbler and Kalganov (both of whom line up in the Division 1 race preceding this one), finishing strongly and indeed he might have challenged for the higher placing but for having to be switched when short of room on the run-in.

Global Humor will be piloted by regular jockey Paul Mulrennan, who himself is something of a course specialist, having guided 58 of his 375 rides into Ayr’s winner’s enclosure over the last five years, not to mention a further 96 frame finishes.
