Ayr each-way-tips: Snazzy Jazzy can defy outsider price in Silver Cup tilt

Ayr racecourse
Another huge field lines up for the Ayr Silver Cup, and our preview from Tipstrr each-way specialist Richard Hutchinson suggests a rank outsider might just spring a major upset at a huge price.
14:25 Ayr: Virgin Bet Ayr Silver Cup Handicap (6 furlongs)
The Silver Cup is a great sprint in its own right and is neatly sandwiched between the Bronze and Gold Cups at Ayr’s biggest Flat meeting of the year.
Having watched the Bronze Cup on Friday and with the ground on the easy side, it was good to get an insight into the effect of the draw, where we saw the 24-runner field come right up the middle, with stalls 6 and 7 coming out on top.
This suggests a mid-draw is going to be ideal, and with that in mind there appears to be a stand-out bet coming from stall 10 in the form of Snazzy Jazzy, who actually won the Silver Cup back in 2018 off a mark of 94 on heavy going, and he went on to be rated as high as 110.

Don’t get me wrong, he looks to have been in the doldrums this year for Lawrence Mullaney, but he has been racing him over seven furlongs and a mile on fast ground, which is completely wrong for him as all his winning form is over the shorter six-furlong trip with cut in the ground.
Snazzy Jazzy was given a mini-break, then ran in a claimer off top weight and did okay for his first run on the all-weather, finishing a fair third. He was claimed for £11k and the new connections must be pleased with the acquisition.
I’m sure he will have been freshened up with the change of scenery probably sweetening him up, and the new connections will be looking for a big run on their first outing – so these are all positives.
It always makes me smile when a horse runs in a claimer as the Bookmakers react next time by writing them off, and that could come back to haunt them as Snazzy Jazzy has now dropped to 87, which enables him to qualify for the Silver Cup.
With the ground coming right for him, along with the draw, there is lots to like at a whopping opening price 66/1, and with six places widely available (even seven if you shop around), he looks a worthy each-way play even if that price drops to 20/1 during Saturday.
Suggested bet: Snazzy Jazzy each-way in the 14:25 at Ayr

If you’re looking for something a little more conservative than Richard’s tasty offering (if there can be such a thing in a pinsticker's minefield such as this!), then there has also been plenty of support within the Tipstrr camp for Aplomb, who has been showing glimpses of previous glories since returning fresh from a three-month mid-summer break.
Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam appears to have used that downtime productively to get Aplomb back into shape, seeing him finish runner-up on return at Redcar in August, before finishing an even closer third at Goodwood last time out 18 days ago, and those outings might well have been used as stepping stones for this Silver Cup bid.
This capable seven-year-old made the expanded each-way frame when finishing sixth in this race a year ago, but he carries eight pounds less this time around under now-regular jockey Stefano Cherchi, plus he will also emerge from a mid-draw stall that should give Cherchi options to find suitable ground.
Bonus each-way punt: Aplomb in the 14:25 at Ayr
