Ayr each-way racing tip: Lewa House could defy outsider odds under in-form jockey

Ayr racecourse
The heavy going at Ayr and the extra places have got Tipstrr’s each-way specialists gravitating towards the bottom-weighted outsiders for what could prove to be a stiff test of stamina.

The two market leaders, Lincoln Burrows and Clovis Boy have remained pretty solid at around the 3/1 mark, with the latter in particular looking capable of building on his last-time-out success in similar conditions at Hexham in November.
However, 12 stone could be a heavy load to lug around this time, and arguably the best value bet among the betting principals is Beat The Retreat, who broke his duck in tidy fashion as a 9/1 shot over this course and distance just before Christmas.
With as many as five places up for grabs and with ten of the 14 starters available at double-digit odds, there is plenty of each-way value to be found, regardless of how the more fancied favourites perform.

Admittedly, not many of them line up boasting good recent form, but there’s been a buzz in the Tipstrr for the two bottom weights, who will be looking to capitalise on their lighter burden over the likely bottomless ground.
Ambush Annie was well supported in the market when appearing over a longer trip here 13 days ago, finishing third behind Beat The Retreat, but lining up here seven pounds better off than her opposing rival.
Attracting most attention, however, is Catch Bissett’s eight-year-old gelding, Lewa House, who enjoyed his only success in similar conditions at Hexham just over a year ago and was a close-up second at the same track on his final appearance of last season in March.
Today he reunites with Charlotte Jones, who piloted him to a frame finish at Kelso in October, and whose useful three-pound allowance could prove crucial down the home straight.
Jones has been sparingly booked this term, but that might be about to change after the promising claimer has landed four winners and two runner-up spots from her last seven completed rides.
If she can steer Lewa House clear of trouble, then the combination of her form off a low mark and reapplied cheekpieces could put them in contention for at least an each-way place.
- Suggested best bet: Lewa House each-way in the 13:15 at Ayr
