Ascot each-way racing tips: Trends analysis narrows huge field down to Vafortino and Ramazan

Our racing trends specialist, Andrew of Fiosrach, has bravely aimed his analysis at one of the biggest handicaps on Saturday's card to narrow down 27 runners to a couple of likely each-way prospects.

Unfortunately, last weekends' trends selection did not get the rain in time, and it was one of those classic if-only moments, as the forecast rain did eventually arrive and if only the race had been scheduled an hour or two later.
This weekend sees excellent racing from Ascot with the King George meeting, which has multiple Group races as well as this tasty big-field handicap over seven furlongs.

The trends managed to reduce the big field to only four runners: Vafortino, Montassib, Star Of Orion and Ramazan
Suggested bet (1) Vafortino each-way in the 15:00 race at Ascot
Vafortino has run well at Ascot in the past including winning a very good Class 2 handicap on this going and trip. The stable is out of form and Rossa Ryan who rode Vafortino last time now rides Star of Orion. Three of the horses four wins were with claiming jockeys on board and Kaiya Fraser takes off a valuable five pounds here.
Montassib three of his four wins have been over this trip, and he has won on different types of going, so should cope with the soft ground at Ascot. Interestingly, William Buick has stuck with Montassib despite a disappointing run last time behind Biggles.

Ramazan won last time and being only a three year old gets valuable weight for age allowances and that could prove valuable in this competitive handicap.

He is trained by Richard Fahey, who has trained the winner of this race three times in the last thirteen years. Ramazan has won on most types of going, but his trainer thinks he is best with some rain so the soft going here should be advantageous.
Suggested bet (2) Ramazan each-way in the 15:00 race at Ascot
Star of Orion was second to Montassib at Newmarket in May but comes here in form having won last time. Star of Orion has a nasty habit of finding one rival too good with a record of being runner up six times, whilst only winning on three occasions. Both the stable and jockey are in great form, and it would not be a surprise to see him place.
With 27 runners, I suggest that we back Vafortino and Ramazan both each-way and look around for extra places. A certain amount of luck is always required in these big-field race, but I think both our selections should go close.
