The second-biggest race of British Champions day sees a clutch of the best milers around going head-to-head, with many of the usual suspects carrying serious claims of claiming the huge purses.

It’s hard to make a case for many of the 11 runners when they have to finish in front of Paddington nd Tahiyra, who look destined to provide a thrilling race between two top-quality milers.
Paddington and Ryan Moore will be keen to bounce back from their third-place in the Juddmonte Stakes at York last time out, and his subsequent 59-day break suggests he will arrive refreshed, and ready to re-ignite his otherwise unbeaten campaign.

Four of his six wins were in Group 1 company, the last of which was his Sussex Stakes success in Goodwood’s heavy ground, so he should not be fazed by the testing ground expected at Ascot.
Tahiyra arrives off the back of three straight victories since Mawj became the only one of her 63 combined rivals to have beaten her (in the 1000 Guineas in May), and she landed the Coronation Stakes in impressive style over this course and distance at the Royal Meeting.
Of the others, Frankie Dettori will be hoping to coax the same ride out of Chaldean that saw them land the 2000 Guineas in May, and Nashwa could be lurking dangerously under Hollie Doyle, while Big Rock arrives from France with some impressive numbers behind him and could prove something of an unknown quantity at a decent price.
