Aintree racing tips: Market leaders set to dominate, but Master Chewy could be under the radar

There’s a plethora of number 1’s in the form line of most of these accomplished chasers, with market leaders Found A Fifty, Hercule Du Seuil and Etalon all boasting excellent recent form and capable of landing another major win for Gordon Elliott, Willie Mullins or Dan Skelton respectively.

However, anyone willing to look beyond that trio for some more appealing value might be drawn to Nigel-Twiston Davies’ seven-year-old Master Chewy.

He will be looking to continue the significant progress he has made since switching to larger obstacles this term, which kicked off with an impressive course-distance win here in October.

After two close-up runner-up finishes were followed by further success at Kempton’s Christmas meeting, he was quietly fancied to do well in the Arkle at Cheltenham, and looked on course to grab at least fourth place when he took a tumble two out.

If fully recovered from those exertions then he could well go well again here under Tom Bellamy, who is leaving it late to make his first appearance at the Aintree Festival, and is more than capable of making an immediate impact
