Sittin On Go Profile
|Name||Sittin On Go|
|Born||Jan 11, 2018|
Dale Romans' 2020 Iroquois Stakes winner failed to live up to that early potential, dropping out of contention for the 2021 Kentucky Derby.
Albaugh Family Stables' Sittin On Go is one of the leading runners on the 2021 Road to the Kentucky Derby. The three-year-old Brody's Cause colt is trained by Dale Romans.
2021 Road to the Kentucky Derby
Sittin On Go has picked up 10 qualifying points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby.
The colt won the first race of the 35-race series, taking the September 5 Iroquois Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs. He put in an impressive performance, upsetting the field as he came in at odds of 24/1.
In that outing, Sittin On Go rallied from far off the pace. He crossed the line ahead of names such as Midnight Bourbon, a leader on the road to the Derby, and Super Stock. With the victory, Sittin On Go became the first stakes winner for Brody's Cause.
Sittin On Go's career performances
Sittin On Go has run in other top races, both on and off the Road to the Kentucky Derby. He debuted with a maiden special weight victory on August 16, 2020, at Ellis Park, the race before his Iroquois win.
Following the Iroquois, he ran ninth in the November 6 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) at Keeneland. That race included some of the other Road to the Kentucky Derby names. Essential Quality, one of the current front-runners, crossed the line first. He was followed by Hot Rod Charlie, Keepmeinmind, Jackie's Warrior and Rombauer.
Sittin On Go's next race was a sixth-place run in the November 28 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs. He saved ground off the pace and tried to rally on the rail through the lane, but he was never able to threaten the leaders. The Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes was won by Keepmeinmind, followed by Smiley Sobotka in second, Arabian Prince in third and Swill in fourth.
Sittin On Go finished a disappointing sixth once again in the January 30 Holy Bull Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park. The race was another offering qualifying points towards the Derby. The runner struggled as he stumbled out of the gate and trailed the field, sitting far off the pace around the far turn. He never threatened throughout the race.
Two further disappointments followed - finishing seventh in the Tampa Bay Derby and sixth in the Blue Grass Stakes. This ended his prospects of qualifying for the Kentucky Derby.
