CALICO JACK (2) turned in an eye-catching run over 5f at Caulfield Heath when resuming last time, ridden back before coming home with a powerful run to finish third. Form at this distance is strong with three wins from five starts and is right in this. ROSE OF SHALAA (13) was heavily backed and justified the support when resuming last start over 6f at Ballarat, scoring by 2.25 lengths. Open to plenty of improvement and can go on with it. OUTSTANDING REWARD (16) did her best work late and finished second last time over 6f at Ballarat, beaten 2.25 lengths. This looks a sterner test than last time but on her best form she is one of the key runners. GRONKOWSKI (8) ran below expectations last time at Yarra Valley over 7½f, finishing fifth and beaten 2.75 lengths. Has the pace to be in a prominent position from the outset. Should give backers a sight.
