GIOVANNA STAR (4) finished third when resuming from a lay-off last start over 5½f at Cowra. Best figures read very well. JADE DIVISION (3) showed good early dash before weakening to be beaten 4. 5 lengths into eighth over 6½f at Dubbo last time out. Expected to measure up here. Worth another try. PATTERA (2) is a distance specialist who did little and finished 5 lengths from the winner in seventh over 6½f at Bathurst last start after being in contention on the turn, a less impressive effort than his fourth at Dubbo the run before. Suitably placed so anticipating a big run this time. THE DEFIANT ONE (5) doesn't win out of turn but ran a strong race last time out over 5f at Bowraville, finishing fourth and beaten 1. 75 lengths. Sure to be in the mix.
