REWARD THE SHERIFF (4) scored by a nose over this distance at this track last time out. Form here strong boasting two wins from three starts. Among the leading chances. BEFORE THE WAR (13) is usually thereabouts but finds it hard to win, with only one victory from 10 starts. Did a good job last start to finish third over 4½f at Corowa, beaten 1.2 lengths. In the right race and there is no reason he cannot get the major prize. BON SHADOW (7) missed the placings two runs back then improved last start but found one better over 5f at Echuca, beaten 1.3 lengths after being prominent at the corner. Ideally placed and is sure to give this a mighty shake. SIMPLY SPARKLEZ (2) finished second at Bendigo two runs back but was less effective last time over 6½f at Ararat, finishing 8 lengths back in eighth. Has her share of ability and can do a lot better.
