Good standard in this open handicap. MONARCH'S GOLD (2) was disappointing at Newcastle on his return to action two months ago but is entitled to have improved from that outing and it's too soon to write him off having won over course and distance. GHOST MODE (4) looks to have plenty of ability and was narrowly beaten at York over 7f in a valuable contest in October. Has plenty of potential on handicap debut. ALVIN (7) took his form to a new level when getting off the mark by 3L last time out. Needs more now in a handicap but dangerous to dismiss. SAFFRON DANDY (5) arrives seeking a hat-trick and must be respected.
