MAGICAL MERLOT (2) improved from debut outing to second start having finished sixth at Newbury to placing third tackling 1m at Thirsk last month. Will be thereabouts and could go two places better. TURKU (5) disappointed when debuting running downfield in tenth at Chelmsford attempting the journey. More improvement is expected. SHAFI (6) is the pick of the debutants.
