CORTAIN (3) turned in a nice effort last time out at the second run of the campaign when he worked home well and finished just a neck from the winner in second over 7f at Bendigo. Must raise the bar but he has the talent to test this line-up. MAKALU (1) ran below expectations last time at Bendigo, finishing fifth and beaten 3.5 lengths starting at 9/2. Meeting a tougher field but on his best form he is one of the chief contenders. STEAL THE SUN (14) failed to live up to market expectations last start when out of the placings over 1m2f at Wangaratta, beaten 6 lengths. Meets some better types this time but she has the ability to test this field. WISE LEGEND (6) is close to breaking through after two consecutive placings, the latest coming when second over 1m at Bendigo. Nicely placed to play a pivotal role.
