Has further improvement to come and is the one they have to beat. APPARATE (12) finished out of the money two starts back then was beaten 5 lengths when fourth in a 7f contest at this track two weeks ago. Looks well placed so expect a big run this time. FIRE AND GEMSTONE (4) turned in an eye-catching run last time out over 6f at this track, charging home from well back to finish a long neck away in third. Has managed six minor placings from nine runs at this circuit. One of the main contenders. KOTAISHI (3) was in the money two starts back at Queanbeyan but couldn't back it up last time when tenth, beaten 4.5 lengths, at Hawkesbury over 7½f. Nicely placed to bounce back.
