MIRACLE MARK (2) is usually thereabouts but finds it hard to win, with only one victory from 14 starts. Again tasted defeat last start when seventh over 1m at Del Mar, beaten 5 lengths. Faces an easier assignment so he is likely to play a big role. CODE DUELLO (4) made it back-to-back wins when successful last start over 6½f at Los Alamitos (Dirt), getting home by a nose. Winning rider Edgar Payeras retains the mount. It doesn't get any easier but on current form he is one of the chief contenders. GRUBAUER (6) is a distance specialist who was out of the money when resuming two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 6½f at Del Mar, beaten 7 lengths into fifth after being in the firing line on the turn. Is unbeaten in two starts at this course and distance. Has the talent to take care of this field. GHOST OF MIDNIGHT (5) returned from a lay-off five weeks ago when he was beaten 5 lengths into fifth over 6f at Del Mar. Fitter so a likely improver.
