MAJOR TOM (7) turned in a modest performance when ninth last time out over 6f at this track, beaten 16 lengths. That followed a win at Pleasanton at the previous outing. Perfectly placed and is sure to play a pivotal role. CARDINAL TRICK (1) bounced back last start and scored by half a length after being in contention on the turn over 4f124yards at Los Alamitos Qh (Dirt). Meeting a deeper field this time but he can win again. LOVE CANDY (6) settled well back last start and never threatened when 5.5 lengths from the winner in seventh over 5½f at Pleasanton (Dirt). Well placed and there is no reason he cannot find winning ways. BIG DON'S SMILING (3) is back after a break of six months. Looking to emulate his win at Golden Gate Fields to kick off the last campaign. Looks one of the genuine hopes in the race.
