MILES FINCH (8) is a two-start maiden who looks close to a win after placing at both runs, the latest when third over 1m at Del Mar (Turf). Has the gate speed to take up a forward position. Best form puts him right in this. GIANT LUTHER (5) finished out of the money two starts back then was beaten 4 lengths when fourth over 1m at Del Mar six weeks ago. Stepping up a level this time but on his best form he is one of the chief contenders. GOT SOUL (6) was in contention on the bend and finished second last time over 6f at Pleasanton (Dirt) when resuming from a lay-off, beaten 3.5 lengths. Taking on a better line-up this time but he has the ability to mix it with them. JAMES J BRADDOCK (7) turned in a moderate debut over 6f at Los Alamitos (Dirt) on December 14 when he was safely held in sixth, 6 lengths from the winner. Will take a lot from that experience. No surprise to see him improve sharply.
