PORTOLA (5) got well back over 1m2f at Dalby last time and never threatened, eventually finishing 9 lengths away in seventh. Likely improver with strong prospects. MAKIN' STATEMENTS (2) showed good early muster and fought on to finish third last start over 6¾f at Ipswich. Finds the right race this time and can run another big race. CUMIN SPINNER (4) is close to breaking through after two consecutive placings, the latest at this track over 6f. Well placed and should be in the finish again. MASTER RICH (1) has been in the placings four times from 10 outings. Last start finished fourth over 7¾f at Mackay. Has a sound record here with two top-three finishes from four starts. Among the fringe hopes.
