SAMANTH (8) improved sharply on her seventh two starts back at Balaklava with a win as public elect over 5½f at this track two weeks ago, getting home by a long neck. Looks well placed so expect another big run. LAKEHURST (7) was a winner on dirt over 5f at Broken Hill in a but missed the frame on turf over 6f at Clare last time. Worth following up back on dirt. THE LAST STAND (4) finished sixth two runs back then improved last start but found one better over 5½f at this track, beaten only a long neck after being in the firing line on the bend. Best figures measure up. Sure to run well. SHIKANIC (2) finished fifth over 5½f at Clare at his most recent appearance on October 26. Makes plenty of appeal.
