SHIKANIC (4) finished third as favourite last time out over 5½f at this track, making it three minor placings from three starts this time in work. Has been thereabouts without winning and he is well placed to break through. BERKINSON (2) has been in sparkling form, scoring two wins on end only to miss the frame last time over 5¼f at Balaklava. Back to the scene of his victory two runs back. Has two wins from four starts at this circuit. Expected to be in the finish. LAKEHURST (7) is returning from a lay-off of six months. Finished seventh at Port Lincoln over 5f at the first run last prep. Now with a new trainer Bryan Holtham. Placed in a recent trial. Among the better hopes while fresh. LANCELOTTO (5) tackled a dirt track for the first time last start and although out of the placings wasn't far from the winner when seventh over 5½f at this track. Handled this surface nicely last time and can sneak into the finish.
