WESTWARD LOOK (4) finished out of the money two starts back then was beaten 18 lengths when eighth over 7½f at Turf Paradise three-and-a-half weeks ago. Beautifully placed and is sure to prove tough to beat. DEFEND (2) raced on the speed from the outset when resuming last start and finished third, beaten 3.5 lengths, over 4½f at this track (Dirt). Has the class to go a couple better. BEYOND THE BEND (5) made progress last start to finish second over 5½f at this track after being in contention on the turn. It doesn't get any easier but on his best form he is right in contention. FEDERALE (3) didn't make an impact at his last run before going for a lay-off on December 10 finishing seventh and beaten 8 lengths over 6f at this track (Dirt). Hasn't scored when fresh from a break but generally races well with two minor placings. Looks one of the genuine hopes in the race.
