MONGOLIAN GOBI (5) is progressing well this campaign. Opened with a fourth at Pakenham two starts back then got the job done by 1. 75 lengths last time out after being prominent at the turn over 5½f at Pakenham. Stepping up a level this time but on his best form he is capable of testing his rivals. MAJOR RUMBLE (9) resumed last start over 5½f at Murray Bridge and showed little early speed, settling well back but hitting the line hard to finish second, beaten 2. 25 lengths. Should run on into the finish again. HOT STRUT (11) is close to breaking through after two consecutive placings, the latest at Mt Gambier over 6f. Has a win and three minor placings at this journey from five starts and has to be included. EXTINGUISH (8) was in great form at the end of the last campaign with back-to-back wins, the latest over 1m at Murray Bridge six months ago. Has a strong association with Todd Pannell who has been in the saddle for her last two wins. Must be respected.
