NURYS (7) performed above expectations when resuming last time over 6f at Murray Bridge, finishing a nose from the winner in second after starting at huge odds. Strong winning chance. EVEN SHARPER (2) lines up for the first time since November 16. Started the last campaign in good style when in the placings over 5½f at Strathalbyn. Hasn't scored when fresh from a break but generally races well with two minor placings. Should be hard to stop. CATALINA BLACK CAT (1) finished fifth two runs back at Kilmore then improved last time out to score by 0.8 lengths as favourite after being prominent at the corner over 6½f at Wangaratta. This looks a sterner test than last time but on his best form he is good enough to cope. WALLY WEST (6) hasn't been able to break through for an extended period, the latest effort a fourth over 5½f at Murray Bridge after he gave away a big start. In the right race and should be competitive.
