THE MAILER (4) finished ninth when resuming two runs back then did a good job last start but found a couple better over 7f at Echuca, beaten only 0. 8 lengths. Likely improver with strong prospects. ANGEL'S GATHERING (3) travelled in a rearwards position then made a little ground and finished 5 lengths away in seventh last time out over 6f at Echuca when fresh from a lay-off. Tackles a longer journey this time. Meets a tougher line-up this time but he is a leading contender. MONSUN'S PRIDE (10) is a seven-start maiden who resumed from a lay-off last start and was beaten 1. 75 lengths when fifth over 6½f at Bendigo. Definite top-three hope with plenty of improvement to come. LADY OF STEEL (6) was never really in the hunt last time, drifting back early and winding up 5. 5 lengths from the winner in sixth over 1m at Ararat. Will find this assignment a little tougher but is too good to overlook.
