Meets a tougher line-up this time but she is a leading contender. EMPRESS OF CHINA (6) is a two-start maiden who finished fourth, beaten 4.5 lengths, when resuming from a lay-off last start over 5½f at this track. Can come on from that run and looks a serious contender. KATIYA (7) turned in a moderate debut over 6½f at Bendigo on September 7 when she was safely held in ninth, 6 lengths from the winner. Plenty of scope for improvement. Expected to do much better. MIND BATTLEFIELD (8) is returning from a lay-off of ten weeks. Finished eighth at Ballarat Synthetic over 5½f at the first run last prep. Now with a new trainer Cindy Alderson. Fitter for a tenth in a recent trial over 5f at Cranbourne.
