SURREAL ASCOT (8) started at 13/2 last time and ran below expectations, finishing seventh and beaten 1.5 lengths at Ipswich over 5½f after being prominent at the bend. Finds the right race this time and can turn things around. WORTHY ESSGEE (11) registered a strong win at Murwillumbah two runs ago. Fair effort last time out when second over 6f at Sunshine Coast, beaten a nose after doing his best work late. This doesn't look as hard so he is a major player. MINTO'S POWER (10) is having his first run since winning by 5 lengths two months ago over 6f at Gold Coast Poly. Has transferred to the I A Livingstone stable over the break. Worth plenty of thought. SOCK'EMSID (4) finished last campaign with a couple of minor placings, the latest over 1m at Toowoomba six months ago. Chris Meehan who has two wins when partnering stays on. Worth including in calculations.
