SMARTEN UP (4) surprised many by landing his maiden victory by 1. 75 lengths over 7f at Durbanville. Is lightly raced and has plenty of scope for improvement. Shaping up nicely and he should be in the finish. GREEN GARNET (1) returned from a lay-off three weeks ago when he was beaten 11 lengths into 11th over 6f at this track. Strips fitter and can feature. BLIND DATE (3) missed the placings two runs back then improved last start but found a couple better over 7f at Durbanville, beaten 2. 75 lengths after being in the firing line on the corner. Needs to be at his best to beat this field but he has the ability to mix it with them. CARRIACOU (7) has not won for a long while. Last raced on October 29 when beaten one length into fifth at Durbanville over 7f. Placed to advantage so expect a bold run.
