BELLA MONTAGNA (5) closed last campaign with back-to-back placings, the last of which was at Ellerslie four-and-a-half months ago. One of the leading chances. BUCKENARA (2) showed good early dash when resuming last start and held on well to finish 0.8 lengths back in third over 7½f at Newcastle. Nicely placed to go a couple better. COVERT THINKING (6) ran a better race last start at her second trip to the races, finishing second over 7½f at Newcastle. Coming along nicely and should be in the finish. BANXI (1) was beaten 2. Well placed and can figure in the finish this time.
