GRAND SONATA (5) ran below expectations last time out when fifth over 1m4f in the G2 Kentucky Cup Turf Stakes (Turf). Too good to dismiss after one bad run. UTAH BEACH (4) drifted well back and failed to finish it off last start when ninth, beaten 10 lengths, over 1m4f in the G2 Kentucky Cup Turf Stakes (Turf). Yet to miss the frame in three starts over this course and distance. Jose Ortiz gets the best out of this five-year-old gelding. Won't find this as tough so he is set to turn things around. MERCANTE (3) is yet to find his good form from last campaign, last start finishing ninth in the G1 Keeneland Turf Mile Stakes at this track (Turf) but overdue for another win. Rates well on best and can atone this time. SAFE TRIP HOME (2) did well to score by 2. 25 lengths when resuming in a weaker race last start over 1m4f in stakes class at Colonial Downs (Turf).
