SMART RETURN (10) met with solid support when resuming last start over 5½f at Avoca when fifth, beaten 6 lengths. Expected to improve and gets her chance. CARAT TIME (3) resumes from a lay-off of five months. Looked close to a win before that break, finishing off with a minor placing over 6f at Wodonga. Good chance to break through. INSPIRED CHOICE (7) stepped out for her debut over 6f at Echuca back on November 7 and finished sixth, beaten 7 lengths. Plenty of scope for improvement. CHESSPIECE (4) missed the frame on debut then progressed nicely at her second outing, finishing 1.75 lengths from the winner in third over 5½f at Ararat. This looks a good race for her so another forward showing looks likely.
