AUGUST RAIN (3) returns from a lay-off of six months. Was safely held at the only appearance last prep when seventh over 1m1/2f in stakes class at Zia Park (Dirt). Has switched to the Barbara Heads yard over the break. Has an impressive strike rate at this distance with three wins from five runs and should be hard to stop. MASEN (2) is a seven-year-old import having his first run for the Craig MacPherson barn. Back from a break after finishing eighth over 5½f at Colonial Downs (Turf) at his last appearance ten months ago. Not seen at the trials but he should feature in the finish. SUNBIRD (4) resumes after finishing in the money over 1m3f in the G3 BC Premier's Handicap at this track at his latest appearance on October 5. Has an excellent when resuming record and was in the money in his last when resuming run, is among the better hopes. BOLD ARCH (1) comes here off a break of eight months. Scored over 6½f at this track at the start of last prep. Looks one of the genuine hopes in the race.
