XSPIRITOUS (8) pushed forward from a wide draw last time out and was prominent for a long way before fading to finish fourth over 5f21yards at Moruya. Will be handy in the run and should prove hard to run down. MIDNIGHT MOOSE (1) is coming along nicely this prep. Finished 11th when fresh from a lay-off two starts back at Moruya then improved and scored over 6f87yards at Canberra Acton three-and-a-half weeks ago, getting home by 0. 6 lengths after being in contention on the bend. Finds a tougher race but he has the ability to test this field. SHOWMARA (7) is back at the races for the first time since January 12. Worth noting he filled a minor placing when returning from a lay-off last prep over 6f at Kilmore. Lines up. For the first time for trainer Alexandre Lemarie. Definite top-three chance.
