SPARTUS (2) finished 11th two runs back at Randwick then improved last time out to score by a head over 5f at Wyong. Likely to be there at the finish again. HARLEX (1) speared to the lead from a wide alley before fading right out of it over 6½f at Rosehill last time. Has good early toe so he should be handy in the run. Sure to be in the finish. GAMBLER (3) showed good early speed and led into the straight before fading to finish fourth, beaten 1. 4 lengths, over 5½f at Hawkesbury. Will push forward and is among the chances. DIETRICH (6) is a progressive four-year-old mare who resumes from a break of six months, her last appearance being a win over 5½f at this track. Sharpened up by a recent trial placing. Has never been out of the placings when resuming from two tries. Has never missed the frame at this venue, including two wins. Can sneak into the finish.
