FALL OF ROME (3) was handy on straightening and went on to finish second last start over 6f at Moe, beaten a nose. Likely improver with strong prospects. VOLANDER (11) was out of the money when resuming from a lay-off last start over 5f at Sale, beaten 3.5 lengths. Ideally placed and is sure to play a pivotal role. WICHITALL (7) is a nine-start maiden who has been in the money four times. Could only manage fourth at the latest appearance over 6¾f at Donald. Has a solid record at this journey, finishing in the money on two occasions. Meets a tougher line-up this time but is capable of featuring. ORTEGA (5) returns after five months in the paddock. Closed the last campaign with a fourth over 5f at Pakenham. Good effort to launch last prep when in the money at Yarra Valley over 5f. Rates highly on best form and a bright return wouldn't surprise.
