SOUTHERN MONARCH (2) displayed plenty of early toe and went on to score by 0. 8 lengths last time out over 6¾f at Strathalbyn. Has her share of talent. Hard to beat in this suitable race. PETIT EAGLE (7) turned in an eye-catching run last time out over 7½f at this track, charging home from well back to finish 0. 7 lengths away in third. Has been in sound form this prep with a win and two minor placings from six outings. Among the leading chances. TENTERK (3) was safely held when tenth last time out over 6½f at Bordertown, beaten 11 lengths. That followed a win at Penola at the previous outing. The engagement of Tala Hutchinson is noteworthy. Goes up a rung or two but he is capable of running a bold race. MAGNA TORINO (6) broke her maiden last start over 6f at Strathalbyn, scoring by a nose. Sparingly raced and has more to offer. Alysha Warren was in the saddle on that occasion and retains the ride. Harder here but should be involved in the finish.
