INSOLENCE (13) returned last time with a solid second at Geelong over 6f when he did his best work late. It doesn't get any easier but he is right in contention. FONTEIN JEWEL (1) turned in a strong run last time when he settled well back before running on hard to be beaten only a neck into second over 6½f at Swan Hill. Watch for another barnstorming finish. PORTARLINGTON (2) was in contention on the corner and finished second last time over 6¼f at Morphettville Parks, beaten a nose. Meets a stronger field but he is good enough to take this out. STAR OF MACEDON (4) finished third last start over 6f at Caulfield when he made late ground, beaten 2. 5 lengths. Fitter for that run. Worth plenty of thought.
