Race Tip

GALLANT SON (1) is back at the races for the first time since April 26. Worth noting he filled a minor placing when returning from a lay-off last prep over 5½f at this track. Rates highly and makes plenty of appeal. CHERGUI (14) doesn't boast the best winning strike rate but ran a nice race last time out, finishing second and beaten only 0. 8 lengths over 6f at Cranbourne after being in the firing line on the bend. Enjoys a drop in grade so he is sure to be right there at the finish. EXPRESS CLASS (8) was well held in the HDF McNeil Stakes won by Tycoon Star over 6f at Caulfield at his last appearance four-and-a-half months ago. Patrick Moloney stays on. Expected to measure up. CAVALRY GIRL (13) turned in a fine effort to win by a head at this course and distance last start to maintain her good form of late. Nicely placed to play a pivotal role.
