WEEKEND SPIRIT (8) is close to breaking through after two consecutive placings, the latest coming when third over 1m1/2f at Ipswich after being in contention all the way. Meets a stronger field but he is up to the task. LOS ALAMITOS (5) ran on well to get up for third at long odds at his latest appearance at Eagle Farm over 7f. Has the pace to be in a prominent position from the outset. Expected to be in the finish. OUR MATE LOCKY (6) made a strong late bid but just failed to pick up the winner as favourite last start over 6¾f at Ipswich. Should be near his peak for this. Taking on a better line-up this time but he is good enough to play a major role. I AM LOUIE (4) settled back on debut last time out and battled on evenly to finish fifth over 7f at Eagle Farm. Can figure in the finish.
