MERCIAN (8) wound up strongly last time out to finish a long neck adrift in second over 5f at Sunshine Coast. Should settle handy in the run. Best figures should see him run well. ARDERN (9) showed good early speed then led into the straight last start before fighting on to finish third, beaten 2 lengths, over 6f at Ipswich. Will go forward and is expected to be in the finish again. OBEROI PRINCESS (12) was in the firing line on the bend and progressed nicely last start to finish a close second over 5f at Sunshine Coast after missing the placings at the previous appearance. Finds a tougher race but another big run will not surprise. SALT LAKE BETTY (13) did very well to fill a minor placing when resuming at Eagle Farm but raced below expectations last time over 6f at Eagle Farm, finishing seventh and beaten 4.5 lengths. Has her share of talent and can do a lot better.
