SPRING BEAN (1) got home by a nose last time out over 1m1/4f at this track. Boasts four wins here. Should be poised just off the lead. Will give a great sight. MATEUS (4) produced a reasonable effort when fifth last start over 1m at Hobart, beaten 2.25 lengths. That followed a win at Launceston the start prior. Needs to be at his best to beat this field but he deserves plenty of thought. CHICANE (3) was ridden quietly then picked up fairly well in the straight and finished 3.5 lengths away in fourth last time out over 6¾f at this track two weeks ago. Steps up in distance. Among the chances. SHY GUY (2) registered a strong win two runs ago then turned in a decent effort last time out when second over 1m1/4f at this track, beaten a nose. Worth plenty of thought.
