STARBURST (6) finished 8 lengths away in fifth last time out over 6f at Fairgrounds after being prominent at the turn four weeks ago as 5/2 favourite. Steps up in distance. Has good early toe so he should be handy in the run. Among the leading chances. MINT (5) finished out of the money two starts back then was beaten 8 lengths when seventh in a 6½f contest at this track a month ago. Faces an easier assignment so he is a major player. OREGON COUNTY (9) is a six-year-old gelding who is having his first run for the Mark N Hibdon stable. Hasn't raced since finishing in the placings at Columbus (Dirt) four months ago. Hasn't trialled publicly but looks nicely placed. Should feature in the finish. AFFIRM CHIEF (1) finished ninth over 6½f at this track (Dirt) at his most recent appearance on December 20. Looks one of the genuine hopes in the race.
