WONDER STEP (1) turned in a modest performance when fourth last start over 6f at Bathurst, beaten 4 lengths. That followed a good when resuming win at Dubbo. Faces an easier assignment so he can return to the winners' list. CARBROOK (4) used the low draw last time and bounced straight to the lead, turning in front before fading to finish fifth over 6½f at Coonamble. Has a win and four minor placings at this journey from seven starts and is one of the prime contenders.
