SUBARCTIC (9) returned from a lay-off last start with a strong win by 1.3 lengths over 1m at Echuca. Will be better for that latest run and is clearly the one they have to beat. PRIVATE JUMBO (1) finds it hard to win with just one success from 12 starts. Was again denied last start when he found a couple better over 7f at Sale. This doesn't look as hard so he is a major player. ARDEN GREEN (6) was out of the money when resuming from a lay-off last start over 7½f at Mornington, beaten 4 lengths. The engagement of Beau Mertens is noteworthy. Going up a level this time but he cannot be taken lightly. OUR LONE STAR (2) was out of the money two runs back when fresh from a lay-off then again missed the frame last start over 7½f at Moonee Valley, beaten 12 lengths into eighth. Well placed to make amends.
