FALCON OF MALTA (2) held on well to finish second last time out over 1m in the Vobis Gold Mile at Caulfield after leading for much of the way. Will take catching. Group 3 placegetter CHARTRES (1) finished out of the money when fresh from a lay-off two starts back then was beaten 2 lengths when sixth in a 1m contest at Caulfield three-and-a-half weeks ago after being in the firing line on the corner. Finds a more suitable contest and can take this out. JUCCONI (3) turned in a modest performance when eighth last time out over 7½f at Sandown-Hillside, beaten 4 lengths. That followed a win at Caulfield at the previous outing. Enjoys a drop in grade so he is a leading contender. VAIL MOUNTAIN (6) scored last start at Cranbourne to make it three wins and three placings from six starts this campaign. Drawn to go forward. Not to be discounted.
