MAXIMUM VORTEX (5) was last at the races when he finished 14th over 6f65yards at Ballina on June 30. One of the genuine hopes in the race. CLOVER'S PRINCE (7) showed good early pace last time and battled on gamely to finish just a long neck from the winner in third over 5f at Gold Coast. Beautifully placed and is sure to take a ton of beating. BARONESSA (2) returned from a break with a ninth over 5f136yards at Grafton, weakening right out of it after leading early. One of the main contenders. CHARLIE SPHENE (6) has not won for a long while. Last raced on October 19 when beaten 7 lengths into seventh at Toowoomba over 5f after being in contention on the corner. Suitably placed so anticipating a better run this time.
