SOUTHERN CRESCENT (9) wound up strongly only to just miss last start over 5½f at Caulfield Heath. Meeting a deeper field this time but she is up to the challenge. JAKIVY (5) hit the frame two starts ago at Flemington but ran below par last time when seventh and beaten 6 lengths over 6f in the Vobis Gold Sprint at Caulfield. Yet to miss the placings in two starts over this course and distance. This is a nice drop in grade so he is sure to be prominent. MARKDEL (1) has enjoyed a let-up of five weeks since he won when resuming over 6f at Cranbourne, scoring by a long neck. THAILESS (10) is close to a win on the back of a string of recent placings, the latest a narrow defeat over 5½f at Warrnambool. Well placed and will be thereabouts again.
