Wincanton each-way racing tip: My Rockstar ready to outrun outsider odds

Tipstrr horse racing pundit Richard Hutchinson landed a tasty 22/1 winner on Tuesday, and he’s looking for more of the same when My Rockstar lines up at Wincanton on Wednesday afternoon.

The seven-year-old My Rockstar has been lightly raced, running just eight times, and looks a late-maturing chasing type.

He started in three-mile point-to-points, then ran in a couple of NH flat races before switching to novice hurdling where he looked pretty modest, postmarking a high of 94 on the flat and 83 over hurdles.

The fact that his trainer then sent him chasing so quickly this year strongly backs up that he should improve over fences, which comes as no surprise considering his dam is closely related to Queen Mother winner Put The Kettle On and he is a big scopey sort.

My Rockstar made his seasonal debut over fences in December 2022 in a Taunton two-mile-two-furlong handicap off a modest mark of 74 and ran a promising race, jumping well in rear and was kept wide to get a good sighting of his fences.

He made progress half a mile out (could hardly fail to do so with his slick jumping), but blew up and faded in the home straight, going down by 19 lengths.

Suggested bet: My Rockstar each-way in the 14:50 race at Wincanton

He ran a similar race on his second and latest run, with his jumping again the highlight, and going wide which forfeited a lot of ground around the tight Taunton bends. He weakened late on but wasn't given a hard time.
Now My Rockstar comes from a tiny owner/trainer yard, indeed I think he is their only horse in training, and because of that, he was always bound to need a couple of runs to get fit.
It's clear from these chase runs that he has a future and should win races over chases. Now he is fit and running off a basement mark today of 74, and with three-pound claimer ben Godfrey in the saddle, that drops his mark down to 71, which should give him every chance of featuring more prominently today.
They have moved him up to two and half miles today, which should be well within his stamina range, and in this he looks terrific value at anything above 14/1, especially this three withdrawals reducing the field to just half a dozen.
