Tuesday each-way racing tip: Bryony Frost looking to renew winning partnership with Perfect Myth

Bryony Frost has guided Perfect Myth to her three previous hurdle wins, and Tipstrr racing expert Richard Hutchinson believes it is significant that their partnership is renewed at Taunton on Tuesday.

The nine-year-old Perfect Myth was originally trained by Neil King and improved massively in 2019/20 to win three handicaps and finish second twice. This resulted in a 32-pound rise in the handicap from 108 to 140.

14:30 (Taunton) Perfect Myth

In the 2020/21 season, she only ran twice, once in a Listed race, where she stumbled two out to lose her chance, and the other in the Cheltenham Festival Grade 2 Mares Hurdle, where she ran creditably before weakening late on.
She must have developed some niggles as she only ran twice in 2021/22, both down the field, albeit on unfavoured soft going, and the owner decided to move her to Stuart Kittow's yard.

Perfect Myth was a late developer and had run a few times on the flat before embarking over hurdles. Being as high as 140 over jumps, her flat mark of 52 looked very exploitable, and she did run well on all three flat starts last summer, landing two runner-up spots.

They must have felt her breathing was holding her back as they gave her a breathing op (and mini break) before having two more flat runs, which again were ok, but she seemed to lack the decisive tactical pace to win on the flat.

Perfect Myth appears to be a classic example of a horse that excels in the National Hunt sphere because she is such a good jumper, so a return to jumping was the right call.

She came back in a good Cheltenham handicap hurdle off 127 and due to the runs on the flat went off an unconsidered 100/1 shot. The low sun meant they took out half the hurdles which was a big disadvantage to her as she was outpaced, but she still out-ran that price with a cracking race, going down by 13 lengths.
Her last run was on good-to-soft going at Newbury, where she was well beaten by 40 lengths, but I watched the race, and it was raining and it looked much softer than described.

This was backed up by post-race analysis, which confirmed riders said it was riding soft, which clearly did not suit Perfect Myth, who needs faster going.

Today she pitches up on good-to-soft (good in places) that should be fine for her and the right-handed Taunton track will also suit her better, while her mark is down to 118 and having run off 130 before, she looks nicely handicapped.

Some will think she is badly regressing due to those flat runs and her latest outing, but that's another classic overreaction.

Some really good news is that Bryony Frost takes the ride for the first time since Perfect Myth left Neil King, and she has an awesome record on the mare, piloting her to all three of her wins and placing a further four times from 13 rides.

Bryony will get the most out of her, hopefully from a prominent racing position, and I can see the pair running a massive race at the 66/1 early price.

Even if that price has dropped, I readily recommend a point each way at anything 20/1 or higher.
