Grand National legend Tiger Roll could rock in Saturday Navan hurdle

Tiger Roll fans could be in for a treat at Navan on Saturday with the legendary two times Grand National winner entered in the Navan Handicap Hurdle.

The famous dual Grand National winner Tiger Roll could make a welcome return over hurdles at Navan on Saturday.

Trainer Gordon Elliott had been looking at the Boyne Hurdle on February 20 for his Aintree hero, but has entered him for the Navan Handicap Hurdle over two and a half miles at the weekend.
The 12-year-old superstar has not run in a handicap hurdle since the 2016 Punchestown Festival, but has contested the Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle for the last three seasons, winning it in 2019 but finishing down the field in two subsequent runnings.
Tiger Roll famously regained his Glenfarclas Cross-Country Chase crown at Cheltenham when beating Easysland by 18 lengths in March, making up for his 17-length defeat at the hands of that rival in 2020.
However, two runs over standard fences at Aintree subsequently haven't yielded much joy and so his next step could be Navan.
Another weekend entry to keep an eye on is the Willie Mullins-trained Allaho in Sunday's Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase at Thurles.
Connections had indicated the talented Allaho could head directly to the Cheltenham Festival after winning the John Durkan Chase at Punchestown last month.

The eight-year-old is one of 10 challengers for the Grade 2 race, with Fakir D'oudairies entered by Joseph O'Brien, while Elliott puts Samcro and Battleoverdoyen forward.
