Thursday's Sandown best bets and racing tips: Savvy Knight and Inanna can give Sean Woods a brace

Planet Sport tipsters are in the affluent Surrey suburbs for racing at Sandown Park on Thursday, July 21.

Esher is a very nice part of the world if you have the cash. Maybe our tips will help you claw back some winnings from the bookies to afford one of the huge mansions that lurk nearby.

You can get all the latest racecards and results from Sandown by using the Planet Sport live centre, but first here's a quick list of our selections.

13:15 (Sandown) Recon Mission

13:50 (Sandown) Arrest

14:25 (Sandown) Inanna

15:00 (Sandown) Savvy Knight

15:35 (Sandown) Light Up Our Stars

16:10 (Sandown) Thebeautifulgame

16:40 (Sandown) Dreaming

14:25 (Sandown) Inanna

Trainer Sean Woods is enjoying a good season and Inanna can provide him with a first UK Pattern race win since 2000 in the European Bloodstock News EBF Star Stakes.

Woods was last in the big time in this jurisdiction with Atlantis Prince, who won at Listed level and followed up in the Group Two Royal Lodge capping an unbeaten juvenile campaign before he joined Godolphin.

However, Woods then spent the best part of 20 years in Hong Kong with a good degree of success, before returning to Newmarket last year.

Not surprisingly it has taken him time to rebuild his contacts but he clearly know what he is doing, training over 20 winners already this season with a strike-rate almost touching 30 per cent.

Inanna faces a tough task against a host of unexposed fillies but the fact she beat a Gosden-trained hotpot on debut - despite getting loose before the race - suggests she has a bright future, and the third came out and won next time out.

Woods has booked Tom Marquand, who along with James Doyle appears to be his go-to jockey and she looks worth a go at this level.

15:00 (Sandown) Savvy Knight

There is every chance the duo can double up with Savvy Knight as only three go to post for the George-Lindon Travers Memorial Handicap.

Having won his first three outings - he was unraced at two - he finished a fine fourth to Secret State in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He looks the class act in this three-runner heat but might not want a tactical affair.

15:35 (Sandown) Light Up Our Stars

Light Up Our Stars has been in excellent form of late and won readily on his stable debut for Scott Dixon at Epsom three weeks ago.

Off a light weight in a wide-open handicap today, he might be able to defy a 5lb rise in the ratings in the Imber Court Handicap.

Scarlet Dragon went desperately close under William Buick at Windsor recently and he must enter calculations with first-time cheekpieces now equipped, while the dropped-in-class Sweet Reward and Salisbury scorer Saigon add further spice to the race.
